AYANEO's Pocket EVO borrows its design from the AYANEO 2s, but runs on Android, and has a 1080p 120Hz OLED Screen.
The AYANEO Pocket EVO, which was introduced earlier last month, is now live on Indiegogo with a starting price (for early birds) of $389 for 8 GB of memory, and 128 GB of internal storage.
The Pocket EVO is an Android-based handheld, rocking a Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 chip (the same one in the Pocket S I reviewed recently). According to AYANEO CEO, Arthur Zhang, it had been more than six months in development, as "shortly after the inception of the Pocket S, we began planning the Pocket EVO."
It reuses a similar, although thinner design than the AYANEO 2s, because – as Zhang explained to us – it was "highly praised by players and even won internationally recognized design awards. Therefore, we decided to extend the classic appearance of the AYANEO 2S to the Pocket EVO." And I agree as I wrote in my original AYANEO 2s review last year.
The full spec sheet is as follows:
- Snapdragon G3x Gen 2
- 7-inch 1080p 120Hz OLED Screen with HDR support and 800 nits brightness.
- 8, 12 or 16 GB of memory
- From 128 GB to 1 TB of internal storage
- 8600mAh Large Battery
- Big Hall Sensing Joysticks and Hall Linear Triggers
- Weights 478g and 17mm at its thinnest point.
Prices range from $389 to $589, with a limited edition version at $639, which features 24GB of memory (the only SKU with that much memory) and 1 TB of internal storage. You can get the Pocket EVO on Indiegogo.
