Starting in March, the VR headset won't cost more than a PS5.
Starting in March the PSVR 2 will be available at a new starting price of $399 — that's a $150 price cut.
The virtual reality headset launched back in February of 2023 with an original $549 price tag. Now, two years on the lurching VR device is getting a much-needed, permanent cost reduction — actually making it now cheaper than the PS5 you also need in order to use it.
In other markets, the new $399 price shakes out to be €449, £399 and ¥66,980.
A post over on the official blog shared the news:
"For those of you who have been waiting for the opportunity to jump into PlayStation VR2 and experience what this generation’s innovative virtual reality system has to offer, we are happy to share some great news! Starting in March, we’re reducing the recommended retail price (RRP) of PS VR2."
Now this headset is cheaper, it's worth remembering too that the device is now compatible with the PC, meaning it can also be used to play VR titles available on Steam.
Are you more likely to pick one up now the price has been slashed?
