A monster hit for Capcom, with a wild, record-breaking debut.
Monster Hunter Wilds is officially out, and it's safe to say it's already something of a monster hit.
Capcom's latest entry in the long-running Monster Hunter arrived on Steam earlier today (February 28, 2025), and has quickly pulled in over one million concurrent players within just a few short hours of launch — making it one of the biggest PC releases of the year.
Player data (as seen on SteamDB) shows that roughly 1,098,000 players are currently exploring the Forbidden Lands — and that number will likely go up as the day progresses. (Edit: It did — it now stands at 1.2 million, surpassing the peak all-time player counts for Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077)

This absolutely wild debut (sorry), puts Wilds comfortably alongside the likes of Elden Ring, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Cyberpunk 2077 when it comes to record-setting day-one numbers on the Steam platform.
In addition to the PC version on Steam, the game is also available on Xbox Series S and X, and the PlayStation 5.
Noah Kupetsky, over at Steam Deck HQ, advises — somewhat expectedly — against trying the game on the Steam Deck however: "this is not a game I would expect to play on the Deck at all".
