The SteamOS-based Lenovo Legion S is coming in May

Lenovo is launching multiple new handhelds.

It's official: This May, Lenovo will launch the Legion Go S, the first third-party handheld to ship with SteamOS. Priced at $499, it’s a direct Steam Deck competitor, targeting that sweet spot of performance and price. With an 8-inch screen, 120Hz refresh rate, and the AMD Ryzen Z2 Go chip, it promises a smoother, more power-efficient experience.

According to The Verge, Lenovo is currently the only manufacturer Valve is collaborating with, so don't hold your breath for more SteamOS-based handhelds in the near future. At least for now!

The Windows-version will come in white.

For those who can’t wait, a Windows version of the Legion Go S will drop in January at $729, packing 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Lenovo is hedging its bets, offering both OS options to see what gamers prefer.

Both versions will reportedly use the AMD Z2 Go, a chip exclusively made for Lenovo. (I have to admit the chip-situation is a tad confusing, so I am still looking into this.)

Meanwhile, Lenovo’s also teasing the Legion Go 2, a beefier, detachable-controller version with an 8.8-inch OLED screen, and an update to the already existing Legion Go. There is no release date as yet.
