AMD has revealed the Z2 Extreme chip for handheld PCs

AMD has announced the successor to the Z1 Extreme at IFA in Berlin.

Jacob Roach for Digital Trends:

In a joint Q&A session between AMD and Microsoft attended by Digital Trends, AMD revealed that it’s targeting an “early 2025” release for the Z2 Extreme.

The Z2 Extreme is the successor to the Z1 Extreme used in handhelds like ASUS ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion GO and the ROG Ally X.

While AMD announced the new APU during IFA this week, there isn't much more information currently available (we should learn more next year). But according to Jez Corden, it will be based on the Strix Point architecture, so we can expect a 4nm process, with RDNA 3.5 graphics, and according to Corden the "Z2 Extreme would be able to push high-end performance from 45 minutes to over 3 hour".

Things are about to get much more interesting!
