The new Joy-Con is said to feature an optical sensor.
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is currently taking place in Las Vegas, and accessory-maker Genki are on the show floor highlighting their upcoming products for Nintendo's as of yet unannounced Switch 2 — and in addition to talking about their own future accessories, the company is also sharing some tidbits on Nintendo's next hybrid.
Speaking to The Verge, Genki CEO Eddie Tsai shared that the Joy-Con controllers for the Switch 2 will be magnetic, attaching directly to the new console without the need for the rail system found on the original Switch.
Interestingly, Tsai also noted that within the new Joy-Con is an optical sensor, which when paired with an attachment may offer up a mouse-like functionality not to dissimilar to what hardware maker Lenovo has offered with their Legion Go portable. New Mario Paint anyone?
Tsai would not say where he'd learned details of the new console, but there's been some suggestions...
