We finally know what the Retroid Pocket 5 and the Pocket Mini will cost, with preorders going live early next week.
Brandon Saltalamacchia for Retrododo:
The Retroid Pocket Mini will retail for $199, but those who get the early bird pre-orders can snag one for $189. There is typically a number of devices left for early-birds, maybe 100 or so, but if you miss out on that the pre-order price is $194, so only $5 more.
I am surprised to see that the Retroid Pocket 5 is only $20 more than the Retroid Pocket Mini, with it retailing for $219 after launch, or $199 for early birds, and $209 for pre-orders. I must give it to GoRetroid, it’s a well priced handheld and i think these will sell like hot cakes.
Well, it looks like I wasn't too far off with my predictions, though I didn't expect the Retroid Pocket 5 to be priced so close to the Mini. But $219 (retail) for a device that can emulate PS2 games (as per Retroid) is a decent price.
Preorders start on September 9th depending on where you are in the world. Here are the different timezones:
- United States (PDT): 6 pm, September 9th 2024
- United States (EST): 9 pm, September 9th 2024
- United Kingdom (GMT): 2 am, September 10th 2024
- Europe, Berlin (CET): 3 am, September 10th 2024
- China, Beijing (CST): 9 am, September 10th 2024

I'll be picking one up and reviewing it here on overkill when the prerelease starts. Though, I'm definitely not looking forward to waking up at 3 AM.
