RedMagic cooling fan

Anyone for some ice-cold smartphone gaming?

A magnetic fan that clamps on to the back of your smartphone claims to cool down your device by several celsius.

I had no idea these even things existed before today, but it's clearly something that has passed me by for some time, as this new 30W model from Nubia is apparently the sixth generation of such a thing.

I guess this being the sixth version of their 'RedMagic' fan means there must be enough of a market for these things. A post over at Notebook Check details that this magnetic fan will "cool smartphones down to –16 °C, which is a step up from the –12 °C of the previous model". That seems like a wildly impressive bit of cooling really for what's such a small fan.

I live in the often grey UK, so my phone doesn't particularly run hot very often, but for those in more searing locales this refrigeration accessory may be of interest. I can't imagine my mid Balatro runs are really pushing my iPhone, but there's plenty of smartphone games that will be a bit more demanding. Every little helps I guess.

The Nubia RedMagic Magnetic Cooler 6 Pro, complete with RGB lighting (of course), is launching in Chinese markets first, but will likely land on Amazon later this year. Prices range from $30 to $40.
