The PSVR 2 app for PC is now available on Steam in preparation for the PC adapter launching next week.
Those with a PSVR 2 headset will soon be able to play VR titles directly on their PC (via Steam) thanks to a new free app from Sony that’s launching soon.
This official PSVR 2 app, which you can see on Steam here, is set to arrive on August 6. It will enable folks to set up a PSVR 2 headset directly on a PC, without a need for a PS5.
The PSVR 2 headset launched in February of last year, and it’s fair to say interest in the device has been somewhat limited so far. One thing that many were asking about at launch was if the device would have PC support, something which, at first, Sony didn’t seem keen to commit to, but earlier this year the company had a change of heart, announcing an adapter to make such a prospect a reality.
To use the PSVR 2 headset on a PC, you will need this adapter. This costs around $60. In addition to the headset and adapter, you’ll also need the free, upcoming app.
Sony detailed minimum PC specs and further details in an earlier update.
The addition of PC support is likely to be a boon for the headset, as it will mean those with the headset now have access to an expansive library of VR titles found on Steam, including the likes of Fallout 4 VR and Half-Life: Alyx.
Does this make the PSVR 2 more appealing to you?
