Panic's bright yellow portable is getting a permanent price increase — some three years after the handheld with a crank first debuted.
Originally released back in 2022 at a $199 USD price point, the portable will now carry a $229 price tag. Panic explained this increase in a recent email, stating it's due to them recently moving Playdate production over to a new location:
"after getting up and running at our new factory, they soon let us know that it would cost quite a bit more to make a Playdate than it did at our previous factory".
This $30 price hike will come in to effect starting March 25 — meaning if you want to snag one at the original launch price, you still can for a few more days.
