Nintendo shared how many Switch 2 machines they want to shift in its first fiscal year on sale.
The Switch 2 is now less than a month away, and Nintendo has now put a number on what they hope their new console will sell during its first fiscal year on sale.
As part of the company's latest financial results Nintendo forecasted that the upcoming $449 Nintendo Switch 2 will sell 15 million units by the end of March 2026 (Financial Year 26). This goal gives the company roughly 10 months to sell an average of 1.5 million Switch 2 units per month.
With the looming launch period and subsequent Christmas 2025 bump it's not outside the realm of possibility — as IGN's Logan Plant noted in a post on Bluesky, this figure is in a similar range to what Nintendo did achieve with the original Switch — it shipped just under 15 million hardware units from March to December of 2017.
As an aside, Nintendo expect the original Switch to sell some 4.5million units during this financial year.
My bet: Nintendo will smash this Switch 2 target with ease. Either way, I've got my preorder in.
