A chance to try Capcom's next monster hunting romp early.
Capcom's next entry in their long-running Monster Hunter franchise is set to arrive early next year in February of 2025 — but, this weekend fans of the series can get an early taste for what Monster Hunter Wilds will offer thanks to an Open Beta Test that's currently taking place.
Turns out plenty of people are keen to see what's new, as nearly half a million players have already given the beta a shot since it launched earlier today (Friday, November 1).
Data (curated by SteamDB) show that the game attracted a peak of 463,798 players on Friday — a number that's more than likely to cross the half a million threshold over the weekend.
The beta allows players to "head to the Forbidden Lands for an early taste of exploring and hunting your way through the game’s first locale, the Windward Plains".
In addition to a trial of the story mode, players can also take the character creation tools for a spin, and take part in the 'Doshaguma' hunt. Those who take part in the Open Beta will also unlock a little pendant that they can download once the full game arrives.
If you're gonna give it a go, here's a little beginner's guide from Capcom:
