The tactical take on Metal Slug is set to arrive later this year, and now you can try it, thanks to a limited time demo on Steam
The long-awaited tactical take on Metal Slug has recently been given a 'Fall' release date, but if you're hankering to get a feel for the action before then, you can — thanks to a new demo that's available now, as part of Steam's Next Fest event.
The new demo landed alongside a new, six-minute gameplay trailer (below), offering us a deeper look at what to expect from this new take on the all-time classic cult series.
This 'Tactics' revisiting of the franchise was first announced all the way back in the summer of 2021, and was originally slated for a 2023 release. However, things went a touch quiet, until now. We now know the game is on track for a release later this year, and this new demo on Steam gives us our first chance to take it for a spin.
If you're keen to give it a go, be sure to download the demo soon — it's only available as part of Steam Next Fest from Monday, June 10 through Monday, June 17.
Publisher Dotemu shared the following on what the game is about:
Metal Slug Tactics is both a respectful homage to an all-time classic and an imaginative new way to celebrate the renowned series, channeling Metal Slug's timeless aesthetic through gorgeous pixel art and fluid animation.
The game’s highly replayable battlefields pair shuffled layouts from hand-crafted sectors of terrain with subtle roguelite elements, pushing fighters to adapt and overcome unpredictable clashes as they master dynamic, strategic combat.
