Orders open for the repairable, upgradable 12-inch DIY modular laptop.
Framework's latest laptop has just gone up for pre-order — however those in the U.S. will have to wait a little longer for this curious little modular notebook.
The new entry-level offering, dubbed the Framework Laptop 12, is a 12.2” inch convertible device with touchscreen support and a stylus.

Announced back in February, it's the first from Framework in this size category, and is also the first from the company with, what appears to be, a rather versatile hinge that lets the device switch between a regular laptop configuration into tablet or 'tent' modes. Framework note it's designed for "easy customization, upgrades, and repairs".

This new laptop is now available to pre-order in Canada, the EU, and the UK. However, pre-orders are on hold in the U.S. due to the ongoing tariff situation.
Those who can pre-order can expect to pay a starting price of €569 (£499, or $719 CAD). That will get you the DIY model, available in one of five colours. The fully assembled option comes in at €849 (£749, $1079 CAD). Pre-orders can be made on the Framework website.
