A new Direct has given us a look at Pikmin 4, a Metroid Prime remaster, and the next Zelda.
The first Nintendo Direct of 2023 has just wrapped, and Nintendo had plenty to share in the roughly ~40 minute presentation.
We've gone through all the big reveals, and brought together all of the trailers that you need to see. Let's get to it:
Pikmin 4
The Direct opened with an extended look at the next mainline entry in the Pikmin series, highlighting new Ice Pikmin and a dog character (called Oatchi) who will help you out on your various ground-level missions. We also got a release date for Pikmin 4 with the game due to arrive on the Nintendo Switch in late July (July 21st, 2023).
Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Expansion Pass
Volume 3 of the Expansion Pass is coming really soon - arriving on Switch next week (February 15). We also got a look at Volume 4 too:
Samba de Amigo: Party Central
Ok, this one leaked before the show, but that said it's still a comeback we didn't expect, but are happy to see all the same. Shake your Joy-Con to the music in this fun rhythm action game, set for release this summer.
Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon
Pre-orders for this Bayonetta prequel are now live.
Splatoon 3: Expansion Pass
This DLC pass is expected later in the year (but can be pre-ordered starting today) — the pass will be made up of two waves. The first DLC wave will see players return to the Inkopolis of Splatoon 1, whereas the mysterious second wave is a new single-player campaign dubbed 'Side Order'.
Disney Illusion Island
A Mickey and friends co-op platforming experience that evokes Rayman Legends vibes. It's out July 28.
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp
Following a delay last year (due to Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine) this remaster bundle of two GBA classics has now finally been dated for Switch. It will arrive in late April (April 21st, 2023).
Nintendo Switch Online - Game Boy & Game Boy Advance
Switch Online members can now play a range of Game Boy titles on their Switch. Those subscribed to the Expansion Pack also get access to a range of classic GBA titles, including the excellent Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap and the superb puzzler Kuru Kuru Kururin.
Professor Layton and The New World of Steam
Metroid Prime Remastered
This long rumoured remaster of the GameCube classic is finally a reality, and to our surprise it's available now. The Samus Aran adventure saw a shadow drop launch, and is up on the eShop for $39, however a physical version is also on the way later this month on February 22, 2023.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Booster Course Pass, Wave 4
An all new Yoshi's Island track, and a playable Birdo arrive in Wave 4 later in the Spring.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
This closer look at the follow up to the much loved Breath of the Wild closed out the show. The game, launching on May 12, 2023, will also be available as a Collector's Edition, and of course an accompanying Amiibo was also revealed.
