FPGA console gets add-on with CD/DVD drive, USB ports, and more.
Taki Udon is known for talking all things retro gaming and emulation over on their excellent YouTube channel, but they've also been working away on an exciting new project: an affordable, modern PS1.
This FPGA console will play real PS1 discs, and will play nice with original controllers and memory cards — it's expected to be available starting at just $149.
Recently, Taki Udon took to X to share a look at the additional dock — an accessory which will add additional functionality and ports to the console. This 'SuperDock' will feature a slot for your discs, four USB-A ports, and even a bay for adding m.2 SSD.
We'll be keeping an eye on this project as it continues to shape up — so far, so good I'd say.
The design for the SuperDock (D²) is almost done. CD/DVD drive, four USB A ports, and a 2280 m.2 SSD bay. https://t.co/EO6vwLDOFZ pic.twitter.com/h9ZhsuEscK
