Soon, we might finally be able to install Nexus Mods on the Steam Deck.
Good morning, good morning, good morning.
This week felt slow. Either that or most of the dropped news just hasn’t been that interesting. I guess we're in the summer lull (though I can't call the weather I'm having "summer". More like early autumn).
Therefore, today's newsletter will be shorter. So, let’s get to it!
In other news
- A few more days left in the Steam Summer Sale, so be sure to grab some deals if you want to save money.
- I'm still playing Elden Ring (finished the main game, now playing the DLC), so I'm very much into this rumour that we might be getting an Elden Ring movie.
- Not necessarily a surprise, but Capcom is working on a new Resident Evil, with the director of RE7 leading the project.
- The AYANEO Pocket DMG (that's the Game Boy lookalike) isn't officially out yet, but if you live in China, you can preorder the handheld by paying a deposit of around $220. However, ITHome (the source is in Chinese) expects the device to be priced somewhere between $275 and $410. That feels a tad too expensive, though.
- RockPaperShotgun went hands-on with an early version of Black Myth: Wukong, and they liked it. Which I'm totally here for because I'm very hyped for this game.
- I seem to somehow have missed this (me! the modding guy!!), but we're getting a new Nexus Mods app, that supports Windows AND Linux. The tool is still in development, but when it is released, there's a high chance that modding on Steam Deck will become much easier.
- Talking of mods: an unofficial, native PC port of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is in the works. You will, of course, need a legally dumped ROM of the respective game to make this work. But native Brilliant Diamond on Steam Deck with the potential for mods sounds fantastic.
- Talking even more of mods: Fallout: London might be releasing soonish. The team behind the total conversion mod (this means, it changes every part of the game making it a brand-new experience) for Fallout 4 shared that they've submitted builds of the game to GOG for testing. When testing has passed, they will release the mod.
- The Epic Store for iOS might come very soon for people living in the EU.
- And it's only technically video game related, but the Assassin's Creed set for Magic: The Gathering has dropped, and I still haven't opened up an Edward Kenway. I want to build a pirate deck!
And that's it! Thanks for reading and see you next week.
