The Elden Ring DLC launched, and people find it too hard.
Good morning, good morning, good morning.
I seem to suffer from a case of "never lucky", and have once again caught the 'Rona. So excuse me if today's newsletter is rather short, but my brain is very foggy.
Quick Links
- The Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree is sitting at a mixed rating on Steam because the DLC is just too damn hard, which is something even game director Miyazaki agrees with. It is also the reason I haven't played a single FromSoftware game yet. I simply don't have enough patience to play games that are difficult just for the sake of it. I spend my time watching Let's Plays of the games instead.
- Fortnite is getting a Reload Mode in which players can respawn as long as one of their team players is alive. It also includes a tighter map and a 40-player limit.
- Dead Cells, including all of its DLCs, is currently on sale for half of its price.
- The PS Portal is getting Public Wi-Fi support, battery level in percentage, and better support for touchpad areas.
- Nintendo held probably its last Nintendo Direct which showcased games solely for the Nintendo Switch. I expect that all following Directs will be focused on whatever its successor will be called. But despite it being the last Direct, it's one of the better ones: we're getting a new Mario & Luigi game, a game starring Princess Zelda as the lead, and we got a look at Metroid Prime 4.
- Xbox will be at gamescom with its "biggest booth yet". They plan to show, amongst other things, Age of Mythology: Retold, Avowed, more content for Diablo IV, Elder Scrolls Online, and Fallout 76. We'll be at gamescom, too, so stay tuned for our coverage.
- Sony is reportedly cutting funding for PSVR2 games – and there are only two games in development. I kind of regret owning one right now, but I hope I can at least use it as a normal PCVR headset whenever that compatibility thing launches.
- In the overkill Team Discord server, we have a tracker that shares whenever a game breaks its own player count. And last week, a free clicker game starring a freaking banana nearly reached one million simultaneous players. You can't make this up!
- Only indirectly gaming-related, but there will be an Assassin's Creed crossover with Magic: The Gathering. I can't wait to build a Sigurd Commander deck!
Ok, that's all I am able to do today. See you next week, hopefully healthy again.
