Delta, a new Nintendo focused emulator for the iPhone is now available.
iOS developer Riley Testut today announced the launch of Delta, a new Nintendo focused emulator for non-jailbroken iOS devices.
The app, itself a spiritual successor to the GBA4iOS emulator, supports several Nintendo consoles including the SNES, N64, GBA, and more. Delta seems to be fairly feature rich too — with a nice native user interface, save states, cross device sync, varied controller support (including the PS5 and Xbox controllers, and keyboards too), and even cheat code support.
The app even boasts gyro support for WarioWare: Twisted and microphone support for DS games — neat.
This new Delta emulator app is available for free via the App Store for those outside of the EU.
If you're located in one of the European Union's 27 member states you'll need to grab the app via alternative app marketplace AltStore PAL. Those in the EU will need to be running iOS 17.4 or later on your device, and there is a small nominal fee for AltStore PAL in order to get started. Once you've got the alternative app store all set up, Delta is then free to download.
Delta currently supports the following systems:
- NES
- SNES
- Nintendo 64
- Game Boy
- Game Boy Color
- Game Boy Advance
- Nintendo DS
- Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) — Currently in beta
Alternative app stores, side loading, and acquiring apps outside of Apple's own store is all new ground, so if you're interested in the nuance behind this launch Testut's AltStore PAL announcement blog goes into more details on how it all works.
Daryl Baxter over at iMore also spoke with Testut about the launch:
I'm based in the UK so I've just downloaded Delta via the official Apple App Store, but my colleague Kevin is in the EU so will no doubt give the AltStore PAL model a try.
