Polish developer CD Projekt Red, the development studio known for the celebrated Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077, have announced a new expansion for their dystopian sci-fi game, dubbed Phantom Liberty.

The DLC, slated for release in 2023, is set in an all-new district of Night City and is described as a "spy-thriller expansion". Keanu Reeves is returning in his role as Johnny Silverhand.

Here's an early teaser trailer giving us a first look:

It's due to arrive on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Google Stadia, and of course, the PC.

The original base game is playable on the Steam Deck (albeit with some tweaks), so we're hoping this expansion will work too (we've reached out for comment on Steam Deck compatibility) — however, it's notable to see that this Phantom Liberty add-on will not be available on the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.

Additionally, CD Projekt Red released the 1.6 update for all platforms. The Edgerunners Update brings various gameplay fixes and improvements, free DLCs, and content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the Netflix anime which will premiere on September 13th.

You can find the full changelog here, but the most notable changes are a bunch of new clothing options, three new gigs, new weapons, and, most notably, cross-progression between platforms. From the changelog:

Your latest saves will be automatically uploaded to the cloud so you can continue where you left off easily on other platforms. Cross-progression provides the latest save for every save type (Quick, Auto, Manual, etc.). Feature becomes available after you log in with your account (from Main Menu or the in-game Load Game menu). Cross-progression may be limited when it comes to console versions with regional restrictions, you can find more details here.

The update is live starting today.
