Nitro Deck + controller

A second take on CRKD's Nintendo Switch all-in-one controller solution is on the way, with a handful of new, requested features.

Last year accessory maker CRKD launched the Nitro Deck — a novel wrap-around controller grip for the Nintendo Switch that transformed the console into a bigger handheld, complete with more functionality. Now, the company is back with a revised version of the popular controller, which adds in a handful of new features.

We took the original Nitro Deck for a hands-on at Gamescom last year and came away impressed — so it's something of a surprise to see CRKD iterating on this device so quickly — nevertheless it's always welcome to see a well-received product updated with new, requested features.

This new Nitro Deck+, which is shipping in late April, has the following improvements:

  • New thumbstick placement;
  • USB-C output — includes a USB-C to HDMI adaptor;
  • Two new customisable 'sidekick' buttons;
  • An upgraded, adjustable rumble feature;
  • Bluetooth support.

Jack Guinchard, the Global Brand Manager for CRKD said that the company “actively welcomed feedback" on the first product, seeking to use that feedback to best guide "how the Nitro Deck should evolve". As such, this new Nitro Deck+ is "a direct response to the feedback we gathered".

In addition to the new features, the new Nitro Deck+ has all of the features found in the original model, which includes things like Hall effect thumbsticks, remappable back buttons, swappable stick tops, gyro compatibility, and more.

The new Nitro Deck+ will be available in either a black or white transparent finish, with prices expected to be around $69. Pre-orders are open now.
