The Best Games Coming to Steam in January

Looking for some stuff to Wishlist? Here's a look at the best games coming to Steam throughout January 2024.

Happy New Year, happy new gaming! It's time to look over what releases are hitting Steam over the next few weeks, sharing the highlights — these are the games with the most wishlists, follows, and generally the titles that are eagerly anticipated.

2024 kicks off with the likes of Tekken 8, a new Like A Dragon entry, Turnip Boy returns to a life of crime, a superb looking Portal 2 community mod is on the way, and more — so let's get to it and check out the best games landing on Steam throughout January.

🗓️ January 2024 Steam Games

Portal: Revolution

🗓️ Release date: January 6
🎮 Steam Deck compatibility: TBC

Ok, so this technically isn't a game release per se, but it's still well worth having on your radar.

This full on mod, made by Stefan Heinz, adds a ton of new content to the Valve puzzle classic Portal 2. It's set before the events of the 2011 puzzle sequel — you can expect over eight hours of gameplay here thanks to 40 new test-chambers to take on. Best of all? It's free — you just need to have Portal 2 in your library in order to play.

Momodora: Moonlit Farewell

🗓️ Release date: January 11
🎮 Steam Deck compatibility: TBC

I'm not overly familiar with this series, but the platforming franchise from Bombservice has been going since 2010 — starting out with humble beginnings over on itch.io. This new entry, the fifth overall, tells the story of Momo, a High Priestess on a "divine mission to save her people from imminent destruction" due to hordes of demons wreaking havoc.

Lovely 2D pixel art here, with platforming, melee action, and "core-shaking" boss battles aplenty.
