Baldur's Gate 3 is joined by the likes of Blasphemous II, Oceanhorn 2, and countless others on Steam this month.
The summer is typically a quieter period for games when it comes to huge, big releases, but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of interest titles arriving on Steam throughout August — in fact this month has several big titles well worth wish listing.
We've gone through all of the upcoming titles set for release this month, and today we're going to run through the highlights.
Over the next few weeks we've got the likes of Baldur's Gate 3, Blasphemous II, Sea of Stars, and Trine 5 releasing on Steam. Let's get to the full list.
✨ August 2023 Steam Games
Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm
🗓️ Release date: August 2
🎮 Steam Deck compatibility: TBC
This is the anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed 2013 action adventure 'Oceanhorn: Monster of the Uncharted Seas'. The first game (which is Deck Verified) was a much loved, Zelda-esque experience, and this second entry seems to improve on everything that made the first so compelling.
The new entry has a fresh third person 3D view, a lovely clean look, and sees you unfold the "mysteries of what happened 1000 years ago".
Although the game page does not yet list an 'official' Steam Deck compatibility status, it's looking like this one should run no problem.
Thronefall
🗓️ Release date: August 2
🎮 Steam Deck compatibility: TBC
This looks cute. It's a minimalist strategic tower defense game about building a medieval village safe. The game enters early access on August 2, and there's also a demo available now.

🎮 Steam Deck compatibility: TBC
This is a wrestling meets RPG mash-up with plenty of over the top action.
Yup, this fantasy pro-wrestling adventure sees you "powerbomb your way to glory beyond the ring". It sounds delightfully silly, and looks to be a fun 2D quest that long-time wrestling fans will get a kick out of. There's a demo available.
The game was originally slated for an August 8 release, but has been pushed back to August 22 following the discovery of a save game bug.
I Am Future

Overwatch 2
🗓️ Release date: August 10
🎮 Steam Deck compatibility: TBC
Yes, if you really wanted to there's already a way to play this team-based shooter on your Steam Deck — but it's about to get a whole lot easier thanks to this official Steam release of Blizzard's free first-person hero hit. Cheers love.

Blasphemous 2
🗓️ Release date: August 24

The sequel to the 2019 original. This new brutal side-scrolling Metroidvania is just as beautifully animated as the first game, and picks up where the DLC of the first game left things. More grotesque enemies to take on, a new non-linear land to explore, savage combat filled with gore, and boss battles a plenty will test your skills.
Sea of Stars
🗓️ Release date: August 29
🎮 Steam Deck compatibility: TBC
A beautiful looking retro-inspired 2D RPG with detailed pixel graphics. This turn-based adventure tells the story of two children with the powers of the sun and moon, who together can perform 'eclipse magic' to fend off evil. There's a demo available now and it seems to run on Steam Deck too!
Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy

The long-running Trine series returns with its "biggest adventure" to date. This colourful fantasy series has consistently delivered a fun co-op platforming experience, and this upcoming is looking like yet another solid entry.
Oh, and Trine 5 does work on the Steam Deck it seems — this interview with Kai Tuovinen from Frozenbyte confirmed as much, with them adding that they are making "some optimisations" to the game to get it running on Deck as smooth as possible.
