Analogue Pocket Glow

A new limited edition version of the Analogue Pocket is on the way, and yes, it glows.

In the olden days, long before the internet was properly established and we all had to learn about new games via things called magazines, special editions of handheld consoles were very common. We still get them occasionally via Nintendo, but long gone are the days of tribal GBA SPs. Well, Analogue has decided that that's a real shame, and they're teeing up a new take on the Analogue Pocket that glows in the dark.

The device will be able to charge up its glow during the day and unleash those "stars on your ceiling" rays when it's dark, which could be just about the most nostalgic thing anyone could hold in their hands. Perfect for under the blanket play sessions.

The Pocket Glow, as it's called, will cost $249.99, and will go on sale at 11 am ET on September 1st.

This will be in highly limited quantities, apparently, which means that if you want one, you'll probably want to make sure you get in there quickly.

It is worth noting that, while many people do now have the Analogue Pocket, a few people are still waiting for their standard edition version of the handheld to arrive, so while it's cool to see a new version of the excellent device coming out, it's probably adding a little salt into the wounds of those who are still waiting on the original.

Though, according to The Verge, who got their hands on all of this information, the last remaining orders for the original Analogue Pocket should have been shipped as of the 28th of August, which you'll note is yesterday at the time of writing.

Despite that one little sour note, there's no doubt that this version of the handheld looks pretty stunning, and we're going to keep our fingers crossed for other special editions of it as well — because it's a great handheld, and we like fancy things.
